WGU Brand Video

Project: Brand Video
Role: Concept Development, Art Direction, Project Management

The Storygize Creative Studio created a brand video for WGU to be used as part of an advertising strategy to generate brand awareness among adult learners. We performed a full brand audit to gain an understanding of their voice, core audience, and offerings. This allowed us to craft a compelling story that would resonate in market and ultimately drive viewers to learn more about WGU.

Stepping into the shoes of a prospective millennial WGU student, we saw how pursuing a degree as a working adult could be a balancing act filled with uncertainties—perhaps juggling a full-time job, a busy family life, or lack of clarity around future career prospects. If there’s one thing that millennials do when faced with anything uncertain, it’s turning to a quick Google search. This became our jumping off point. We crafted the story arc around these very questions—written colloquially, like a Google search.

Taki Gold

Project: Brand Identity, Lookbook
Role: Art Director, Product Photography, Designer

Painter and clothing designer Taki Gold was breaking into the US market, needing a way to both share and develop his visual identity with new galleries and potential buyers. He had finished his latest series and the accompanying lifestyle photoshoot but lacked something tangible to bring it all together.

In our meetings we agreed a lookbook would further establish his aesthetic and showcase the boldness of his story. My goal was to create something which complemented the design elements already present in his pieces while simultaneously expanding the world around them.

Good Lion Hospitality
Project:
Brand Identity, Menu Design, Pitch Deck Design
Role: Art Direction, Design, Branding
Good Lion Hospitality owns and operates several projects throughout southern and central California. Their specialty: wildly fun and conceptual craft cocktail bars, each with its own unique story and atmosphere.  Whether it’s a classic speak-easy or a modern tiki bar, they dive head-first into adventurous build-outs with a keen eye for interior design details.

We have worked together on numerous projects now (highlighting only the most recent three below), and the goal is always to develop a visual language for each bar. After receiving the initial concept from the owners, I designed mood boards and presentations to share with potential investors during the fundraising process. The owners also used these mood boards to work with their architects and interior designers. As each concept became more and more realized, we worked with logo designers and visual artists to establish a brand identity for the project.

Bank Of Italy combines the lightness of Italian spritz culture with austere decor – a nod to the historic banking building the bar lives in.

Venus In Furs is a natural wine bar and bottle shop – airy and zany with a subtle undertone of punk irreverance.

Strange Beast is a modern izakaya-style cocktail bar and a design collaboration with reputable NYC tattoo artist Kiku.
